Denzel Curry discography ranking/rating (thread)
Worked hard on this so Retweets greatly appreciated!
5. 32 Zel (7/10)
Favorite Song: Ice Age
Least Favorite Song: Lord Vader Kush II
This project really was a sign of good things to come in Denzel’s career. The album is short, 7 songs, and 25 minutes long but Denzel wastes very little time on it. Every time I listened to this record it got a little bit better which is a great attribute for an album to have.
Really my only major complaint is the song Lord Vader Kush, the hook is horrendous and one of Denzel’s worst and it doesn’t get better throughout the song. This is a major issue to have though when that one song takes up ⅕ of the entire album.
4. Zuu (8/10)
Favorite Track: Zuu
Least Favorite Track: Shake 88
This album came after Denzel’s mainstream breakout album, the best way I can describe this album is constant bangers. The first three songs on the album are genuinely amazing and the album for the most part maintains this level of quality throughout. In my opinion, it is
definitely not as good as taboo but is still an absolutely amazing album. Out of all of Denzel's projects, I have probably listened to this one the least but that should not take away from how great this record truly is.
definitely not as good as taboo but is still an absolutely
Amazing album.
3. Unlocked (9/10)
Favorite Track: Pyro
Least Favorite Track: Lay up (still great)
This project is Denzel's most recent, it is a collaboration with producer Kenny Beats and while it is only 8 songs and not even 18 minutes long it is still great and wastes no time. The first track is more of an intro to the album while Take It Back is the first song on the album
This album has amazing production from Kenny Beats and Denzel delivers amazing bars throughout the entire record. Denzel's verses are not the only bright spot on the album though, Denzel has a lot of clean hooks on the project and his delivery on it is the best I think I have
ever seen from Denzel. The songs are compact and short and Denzel never loses the attention of the listener, keeping his flow throughout the entire album. This project is great but I cannot give it any higher of a score than 9 just because of how short it is.
2. Imperial (9.5/10)
Favorite Track: Knotty Head and Good Night
Least Favorite Track: Sick & Tired
Denzel’s second album Imperial is a huge step up from his first 32 Zel. You can already tell what the vibe of the album will be by the album cover alone, and the intro track helps create this dark, aggressive tone that Denzel maintains throughout most of the album. At the end of
the album though Denzel switches up the sound of the record entirely with the tracks Good Night and If Tomorrow's Not Here. He beautifully transitions the ominous sound that he had throughout most of the album into a more optimistic sounding two tracks that end this album
perfectly. Overall, This album is absolutely great, it has very high highs and a lot of classic bangers.
1. Taboo (10/10)
Favorite Track: All of them
Relistening to Taboo really made me remember just how much this album means to me. This album came out just when I needed it and being familiar with his last album I was expecting a similar vibe but when I listened to the album for the first time I was blown away. This album
reminds me of early morning bus rides to school with cheap earbuds and I mean that in the best possible way. The album begins with the title track, a beautiful song that I just did not appreciate enough when I used to listen to it, and black balloons another song that I just
absolutely love. Denzel then goes back to his familiar sounding aggressive flow with sumo and he continues this sound for the next couple of songs. After this is sirenz, I remember being obsessed with this song when it came out. It is an amazing sounding song with just absolutely
amazing verses from Denzel and JID, on my first, listen this was probably my favorite song on the album. After Sirenz is clout Cobain a classic song in itself and to this day arguably Denzel's most popular song. Denzel ends the album with his imperial type flow on the last 3
songs. This album is great and such an easy 10 for me, every song stands out on its own and it’s just a brilliant album.
