5,712 Indigenous women were reported missing in the US in 2016, and only 116 of these cases were logged into the Department of Justice database. There is not adequate, up-to-date data collected by the government about the current crisis. (2/8)
When Indigenous relatives experience violence, they and their families are systematically not served equal justice, either in the investigative or prosecuting phases. (3/8)
28% of known perpetrators identified by the DOJ were never found guilty or held accountable. Under federal law, tribes only have jurisdiction in crimes in which both perpetrator and victim are Native American. (4/8)
Many serious crimes are automatically sent to the federal government, which often declines to prosecute tribal cases. (5/8)

There is a direct relationship between man camps, and increased sex trafficking and violent crime. These camps are illegal in MN & @GovTimWalz tearfully promised there would not be any, but he lied. There are many massive camps active right now. (7/8)
Every pipeline has a body count. We must support those near us who are fighting this crisis. (8/8)
