Harverd Dropout, a breakdown:
(if this flops)
Drop Out: Lil Pump introduces Harverd Dropout with an aptly titled track about his come-up. This song and the album as a whole are inspired by a viral series of tweets that construed that Lil Pump dropped out of Harvard University to “save the rap game.” Pump eventually caught
to the virality of the meme and claimed that he did, in fact, drop out of Harvard. He then began to promote it as the title of this album, and now this song.
Nu Uh: Within this song, Lil Pump explores another wacky, zany facet of his popularity, stemming from his affluent ability to ‘cook’ and push drugs. Lil Pump has now advanced into a popular rapper. Within this song he brags about his abilities in reference to drug pushing,
obverse to his academic failures; which in his eyes do not seem to matter. This is taken to a comical level, and it seems that Lil Pump revels in this. All of this is done in retrospect towards recent criticisms that his music is devoid of substance, and only talks about drugs
and girls; it is simply a pure parody of those who are ‘haters’ and to them, Lil Pump has only one thing to say – Nuh Uh.
I Love It: An unlikely duo, Kanye West and Lil Pump teamed up for “I Love It,” a song about their respective sexual preferences. The song and its accompanying music video were debuted at the inaugural Pornhub Awards in Los Angeles, California; Kanye served as co-creative director
ION: ION is the 4th track off Lil Pump’s sophomore album Harverd Dropout. On this track, Smokepurpp links with Lil Pump yet again to talk about drugs, his wealth and his popularity. It is produced by Smokepurpp along with close collaborators Diablo and CBMIX.
Fasho Fasho: “Fasho Fasho” is a hard-hitting and braggadocious collaboration between Lil Pump and Offset, who rap about their wealth and sexual endeavors. This is their second collab. Their first collaboration was Lil Yachty’s March 2018 track, “Baby Daddy.”
Racks on Racks: On this track, Lil Pump raps about many recurring themes in his music – his wealth, drug use, sexual endeavors, and designer clothing. Pump first previewed “Racks on Racks” on October 21, 2018, claiming that if the post received 500,000 comments, he would drop
Off White: The song details Lil Pump’s constant drug use and sexual encounters, as well as an although repetitive, catchy hook. The song is named after the brand Off White, a streetwear company founded by Virgil Abiloh. The beat is produced by underground producer Thank You
Fizzle who has previously worked with Fetty Wap. The flow used throughout the song is reminiscent of the flow from ‘O’Block For Life’ by Chief Keef, who Lil Pump evidently took notes from when constructing this song.
Butterfly Doors: On the song, Lil Pump boasts about his cars which have vertically-opening doors, a design feature seen on many high-end cars. Due to their resemblance to the winged insect, the doors are informally referred to as “butterfly doors”.
Too Much Ice: On this track, Lil Pump and Quavo rap about their expansive jewelry collections, realizing that they actually have “Too Much Ice.”
Multi-Millionaire: Lil Pump teams up with Lil Uzi Vert to deliver “Multi-Millionaire.” for the fourth single from Harverd Dropout. This track marks the second collaboration between Pump and Uzi, following DestoDubb’s “Bank Teller.” The instrumental, produced by Danny Wolf, Hanzo.
Vroom Vroom Vroom: Vroom Vroom Vroom is the 11th track off Lil Pump’s highly anticipated sophomore album Harverd Dropout. On this bass-driven and ominous track courtesy of close collaborator Ronny J, Pump raps about his women, his expensive cars, and his drugs.
Be Like Me: Pump is referring to his contemporaries that try to copy his style. This theme has greater precedent since the revelation of the “Lil Pump Plan” that labels are using to help other artists go viral.
However, Weezy is referring to the generation of rappers that he heavily inspired, including Pump.
Stripper Name: On “Stripper Name” Lil Pump, YG, and 2 Chainz rap about various strippers they have met and what they did and said to them. This song appears as track 13 on Lil Pump’s 2019 album Harverd Dropout.
Drug Addicts: “Drug Addicts” seems to entirely contradict Lil Pump’s early-year claims of being drug-free, but shortly after the song’s release, he reassured the public that he is still sober.
ESSKEETIT: “ESSKEETIT” is an energetic instrumental that carries an extended bragging session. The track features bouncy synths and intermittent spurts of soft piano, accompanied by iconic Pump-style 808s. The track is Lil Pump’s first self-produced track, originally previewed.
