mainstream witchy woo is inherently white supremacist.

it could not function outside of capitalism, and is itself an extension of consumerist feminism.
it is rooted in no tradition but frequently cites, or worse, fails to cite the black and brown cultures that developed the technology they half-heartedly pull from
witchy woo is just men are from mars, women are from venus in a witches hat

it has no values, no traditions, no elders, no ethics, nothing but rugged individualism in the face of systems built to crush all of us like a vice
in some ways it’s an outgrowth of “empowerment” culture that rose to prominence in third wave feminism

empowerment culture doesn’t seek to dismantle systems of oppression, it wants nothing more than to assimilate into them.
empowerment feminism reaches for aesthetic gestures, and dismisses any attempt to subvert or dismantle existing systems as being unnecessary—since, to them, all power lies within the individual
but what’s more is that it dismisses and disparages anything that more balanced traditions believe as being inferior and backwards

witchy woo doesn’t believe in curses or hexes, it dismisses the evil eye, it sometimes rails against money work and even protective work
they believe in light without darkness, endless positive without any downsides. it’s ridiculous.

any tool or practice can be picked up, put down, borrowed from or stolen without thought or consequence. any attempt made by BIPOC to protect culture gets coded as racism
i say this as someone who works in a tradition white people have capitalized on and attempted for centuries to dilute and destroy.

i believe in witchcraft, obvi, but witchcraft is a practice and a tradition, not just “love & light”
