bruce sherman says he's excited to see the team's young talent this year and says he was "extraordinarily excited" to attend the marlins playoff games last year
he notes the marlins have added Adam Duvall, a group of relievers, and is excited to welcome back fans to the ballpark

jeter says the club's number one priority this offseason was to improve the bullpen and they play to stick with the plan they've had since they got to miami
Jeter says some fans WILL be in the stands on Marlins Opening Day.
it seems to be clear the organization doesn't want to block any young players from getting a chance to compete at the big league level if they're ready
jeter says that does (obviously) factor into their offseason decisions

jeter says he's enjoyed seeing the confidence level rise in his players -- not just in miami, but throughout the organization -- since their arrival a few years ago
"this is a very strong ownership group, starting at the top..." - bruce sherman
"not for a moment." -- bruce sherman, asked if he had ever thought of selling the team in the midst of the baseball financial losses
"the industry lost $3B last year...I love baseball. I love the organization we're trying to build...we're very excited about the future."

derek jeter was asked about the legends across baseball who've passed away in the last year, and he points out how much he wishes the HOF ceremony could've happened this past summer so he could have had some more intimate conversations with those guys
Derek Jeter says "my favorite part of spring training was when it was over" while laughing and saying "I probably shouldn't say this"
Jeets!
Jeets!
bruce sherman on the marlins new tv deal
"we've made tremendous progress...all our fans will see the marlins on tv this year...we're excited about the partnership we're going to have"
did specifically mention the network they're going with will have a new name sometime soon so

"I hope so" Derek Jeter says of any possibility of a DH in the NL but says he's been told there will NOT be a DH this season
"I get tired of watching pitchers hit"
"I get tired of watching pitchers hit"
"we know how difficult our division is, but if you want to be the best, you're ultimately going to have the beat the best" -- jeter on the the NL east

...players become stars after having some success..."
derek jeter after being asked about who the "stars" on the marlins roster are

"we wouldn't have put together an ownership group and purchased the organization if we didn't feel miami was a baseball town"
jeter notes how unfortunate it is the marlins couldn't have fans last season, but he also knows it takes time to build a fan base
"we have to prove it"

"I'm not one to make any guarantees, but I will guarantee you this: our attendance will be higher in 2021 than it was in 2020." -- Derek Jeter

Jeter says the pandemic did NOT change their payroll plans this season.
"The point of building a great minor league system is to give those guys a chance."
"The point of building a great minor league system is to give those guys a chance."
Just my opinion from Jeter's language on the farm system and payroll: it sure sounds like the Marlins would like to make some major assessments after this season in terms of what to add to whatever they decide their young "core" is
"There's no jobs given before spring training starts...the best players are gonna play."
Jeter says the veteran outfielders won't be handed the starting jobs over the younger guys
"Give me too many players. I'd rather work with that."
