1. 21st-century liberal democracies are a great paradox:

They are profoundly powerful, & at same they are largely paralysed & incapable of decisive action or planning

This is because they have diffused government as broadly as possible within the (overnumerous) elite factions
2. This diffusion of governmental prerogatives has bound all of the elite classes together

It is the source of the extreme, fine-grained power that modern states have. It is also why they cannot do anything

Even waging war, a classical state function, is now largely beyond them
3. This is why I‘ve never been able to get behind „Great Reset“-style theories of Corona.

I entertain all kinds of conspiratorial views, but modern states are not capable of planning to achieve even medium-term goals in this way
4. Lockdowns are perfect pandemic policy for modern states

They can‘t mobilise resources, but they exercise a lot of precise power over us. So we get mainly prohibitions, but no positive solutions

The foundering vaxx efforts show how little power to action our states command
5. Everything states do, gets laundered through like 50 committees. That is not an exaggeration

Every last academic lickspittle must feel involved & part of process. That is how states command such unanimity among elites

It also means that none of their policies make sense.
6. Above all, it means that even many elected officials and leading bureaucrats have no real understanding of the policies they themselves advocate

Nor can these policies be easily reversed once the bureaucratic momentum behind them has taken hold
