"Woke," like "PC" before it, means "being decent to people who are not you" and it is genuinely remarkable how many people are willing to go on record as being firmly opposed to such an endeavor.
(I'm pretty sure that in its original coinage in the Black community, "woke" meant "alert to systems of oppression & how they work," but language is a living creature & minority cultures, partic those against whom systems of oppression are arrayed, often don't stand a chance.)
This took off when I was nowhere near Twitter & has gained a life of its own, some of it pleasant & informative, some it...less so! So I'm muting the thread.
