Stop dunking on folks in the south dealing with snow. They don't have the infrastructure to deal with it for obvious reasons.
That's like if a massive earthquake devastated New England and a bunch of Californians started talking shit because we didn't quake-proof our houses.

You know what you can do? Generally sharing good tips for dealing with snow - especially ones that don't require ice-melt, shovels, and other things in short supply in these areas.
I'll start - if it's about to snow and you have a car parked in the driveway you can lift up the windshield wipers so they don't freeze to the windshield. It will make your life much easier.
Here's another one - if you are having to heat your house and the air is getting wicked dry boil a pot of water on the stove. You're basically creating a humidifier.
If you are getting cold drafts coming in through the bottom of doors or windows - fill up some old socks with crumpled newspaper and lay them on the sill or at the bottom of the door. That should help a little.
Don't have salt and you have an icy walkway but you DO have a cat?
Throw down some (fresh) kitty litter. It won't melt the ice but it will provide traction so you don't slip.

Here is another huge one - don't turn on your car until you have cleared snow away from your muffler. If the muffler is clogged then carbon monoxide will back up into the inside of the car and most likely kill you.

OH - don't walk onto a pond that looks like it froze over. You need at least a few consecutive days in the 20's Fahrenheit before that can safely support you.
Speaking from experience - you don't want to fall through the ice into a pond.
