after years of consideration, i think i’ve finally come to the conclusion that it’s okay & vegan to buy second-hand non-vegan products, ie leather. just like some of us buy cross contaminated vegan food from fast food restaurants, we aren’t creating any demand for animal murder.
it is also way more environmentally conscious than buying new PU leather, which creates more waste. What are your thoughts?
“Wearing leather promotes speciesism” true, but vegan leather looks exactly the same as cow leather. You literally cannot tell the difference. So, by that logic, you may as well avoid Vegan leather as well...
i personally wouldn’t wear second-hand cow leather, however if someone were to, i wouldn’t be bothered by it. it is a REALLY tricky moral situation & i believe it trickles down to whether you’re comfortable with that or not.
