For many people, something just doesn't smell right about this vaccine. But they don't want to say it out loud. Worried about being seen as "crazy" (i.e. anti-vax).

Met 3 people over the weekend (in different situations) who fit this description.

1/
Main reasons I hear from people who have concerns about vaccine:

- Speed of development (it was rushed)
- Adverse reactions of people they know who got it

Both are common sense reasons, esp. the first, but ppl still worry they're crazy for being concerned.

2/
Most I met are unaware of the mRNA (synthetic) component, i.e., novelty of the technology.

When I tell them to look about that, they grow even more concerned and don't feel as crazy any more -- but still afraid to admit it out loud.

3/
(i) rushed
(ii) novel tech
(iii) anecdotal adverse reactions

People are using common sense and survival instincts. It's gotten them this far.

When intuition conflicts with science, we're told to "follow the science".

This is hard, and maybe stupid, to do.

Intuition has much deeper roots and has served us well for a much longer time.
