Join us each week for a breakdown of different ways we can #SavARDemocracy in #arpx!

This week: What exactly is a Joint Resolution, and why do they matter? #arleg
A joint resolution can be used to propose amendments to the Arkansas Constitution! #arleg has the ability to propose up to 3 amendments which will appear on your ballot the following general election cycle. #arpx
Last week was the deadline for #arleg to file joint resolutions. This week we’re going to take you through some you need to keep your eyes on 👀

We saw some filed that would be incredibly problematic for #arpx, like #HJR1019 that would require judges to run partisan races.
Back today with some more on joint resolutions!

For an amendment proposed by #arleg to make it on the ballot, they must be passed by a majority vote in both the House & Senate.

All resolutions filed have been referred to the State Agencies in their respective chambers. #arpx
So why should Arkansans key in on joint resolutions?

1. #arleg has a history of referring harmful amendments, like Issue 3 last cycle, which would have made it more difficult for the people of our state to propose their own initiatives. #arpx
2. #arleg also has a history of proposing confusing, non reader friendly ballot titles.

What does that mean?

The title you read on your ballot might not be a good explanation of what the initiative really is! #arpx
