"The pictures presented people as male or female, not as transgender..." Congrats, Rita Singh, neither you nor the author of this piece have any idea what you're talking about.
Also, there has been a ton of incredible research published by @farbandish @morganklauss @oliverhaimson and others about these gendered assumptions. Showing Singh a "tweet" rather than asking her why she hasn't engaged with the literature pretends this about "trans feelings".
If you have not read and engaged with the relevant literature on your subject, you are doing a bad job at your research. It is not a matter of "perspective." The Misgendering Machine came in 2018.
This makes me so angry because it doesn't matter how much trans folks publish/cite/clarify/explain, we're still going to get presented as "the day's contentious issues."
