1/12 Trying to explain 'Magic or Sorcery' to someone is quite challenging. At times, I can barely understand it myself.
Where I am in my understanding, at least in 2021, is that magic is about Connection and Magical Bridge building.

3/12 If someone needs a job, and they chose a form of magic to assist in getting that job, then they are, in essence, choosing to connect (or bridge) with one outcome over another.
4/12 They want to 'connect' with the reality where they do have a job versus connecting with a reality where they don't.
When they enlist the help of magic, they are using magic to further strengthen their connection with (and likely creation of) a reality of having a job.

5/12 If I perform an invocation, I am seeking a connection with that which I invoke. The better and more stable the connection - the more effective the flow or transference of knowledge and power between us.
6/12 To me, this idea clearly suggests that it's not enough to read about a deity or do an occasional ritual to a deity if you want a genuine connection with them.
7/12 No more than it would ever be enough to have a rare, occasional date with someone you truly wanted a meaningful relationship with.
8/12 When you have a genuine connection or bridge built with someone, there will be an intuitive knowing, a sense of rapport, and an easy transference of subtle essence between the two of you.

9/12 Looking at this idea of Connection from the opposite side, if one wants to banish a person, situation, environment, or repeating experience from their life...
there must be a breaking of the mental and emotional connection with that which is desired gone.

11/12 When your mind is consumed with thoughts of something, or your emotions fixed and stuck in a trigger response to a person or event - THAT is the connection, the familiarity, that must be broken and uncreated in order for a true banishing to be effective.
12/12 If not, you can banish till the cows come home but nothing will ever change.
Likewise, unless you build and strengthen the connection or bridge with a potential you want to become reality; fantasy and daydreams will be all you end up with.
