Maybe some other country (or state) will be bold enough to chose to vaccinate with 50mcg dose, speeding their time to herd immunity and economic recovery.

If one believes that antibody response is the correlate of protection, then if antibody responses are equal - hard to argue against the lower dose, other than "we don't know for sure." Sometimes, you have to take the data and make a decision. That is what doctors do all the time.

For comparison the mean level of antibodies were 5-6 fold higher than that observed in convalescent plasma.

Ultimately, consider -- would you rather have 2x as many people protected over the same time period, even if that protection was ~90% instead of ~95%. Much more rapid to achieve herd immunity. One can study duration of protection. Maybe people will need a booster in 6 mo.
