Florian Krüger is having a brilliant season so far in the 2. Bundesliga for FC Erzgebirge Aue scoring 10 goals and getting 6 assists. The German under 21 international has just turned 22 and is having a break out season. An overview below on how he ranks up against others.
Due to his positioning mainly as a secondary striker or at times out on the left or right, he doesn’t find himself in shooting positions as often as most strikers. His shot map shows this, with a lot coming either side of the goal.
When he does getting chances, he often finds the corners meaning it difficult for goalkeepers to save, mainly using his stronger right foot. The goals example below highlight this.
This sort of free roam allows him to find space in between the lines where he can link up with teammates. He has good awareness of what’s around him and is always scanning before receiving the ball. He doesn’t tend to play up against players rather drift to the left half space.
He has great vision and plays with his head up which allows him to spot teammates making runs beyond him. Despite losing possession often with passes, the fact that he attempts more creative passes is encouraging.
He does however need to work on his finishing with both his weaker left foot and heading. He has scored a few goals this season with his head but has also missed some key chances. The same with his left foot, often lacking conviction and confidence when striking the ball.
Krüger defensive work is also quite poor, showing no real determination to win the ball back when he looses it or press. His stocky build should allow him to win a lot more duels but he needs to be more aggressive. He also gives away a lot of silly fouls.
This is my first thread and of course could of gone into a lot more detail and included more clips but wanted to see if people actually enjoy seeing things like this. Would love some feedback!
