The successor Ahom King, Chakradhwaj Singha, was a diplomatic genius. He observed the outer appearances of friendship towards #Mughals, began assembling anti-Mughal coalition.

Hearing this, Lachit decided to fight against all advice of vaidyas.
After throwing a coward from the boat into water, Lachit motivated his soldiers to fight till the end.Ahom boats dashed into Mughal fleet & sank them.
Their novel 'Panigarh' fortifications helped as well.

Ahom navy under Lachit Barphukan was victorious!
1671, Apr: The Mughals retreated west of Manas river. Ahoms reinforced & fortified their outposts along the river & Guwahati.
After ~4 years of continued setbacks at the hands of Ahoms, #Mughals never invaded Assam again.
