[THREAD] Mohammad Rizwan's staggering 2020/21 season and remarkable turnaround after disappointment in #PSL5.
Rizwan spends most of #PSL5 on the bench for Karachi Kings, playing just 2 games & facing 1 ball.

When asked about the situation, he says: "Only my captain can tell you why I didn't get to play more games. I'm putting in all my effort."

He keeps well and hits two fifties, making 161 runs @ 40.25.

Result: Pakistan's Player of the Series.
He then goes back to Pakistan and takes part in the National T20 Cup, captaining Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. #NationalT20Cup

Rizwan takes up a new role in the T20 format: Opening the batting. He makes 389 runs (4th-highest) @ 39, SR 128.

Result: KP wins the 2020 National T20 Cup.
Pakistan then go to New Zealand to play Tests and T20Is.

In the Tests, Mohammad Rizwan finishes as Pakistan's top-scorer, repeatedly bailing out the batting after top-order failures.

He finishes with 202 runs @ 50 in 4 innings, including 3 fifties. #NZvPAK
Pakistan wins only one match on the tour of New Zealand – the third T20I.

The visitors are set a target of 174. Opening the batting, the keeper puts up his hand and smashes 89 off 59 balls as Pakistan win by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare.

Result: Man of the Match
Mohammad Rizwan is declared Pakistan's Test Cricketer of the Year for 2020.

In five Tests in the year, he made 302 runs, with four fifties at an average of 43.14. He also accounted for 12 dismissals as wicket-keeper.
South Africa then tour Pakistan for Tests and T20Is.

In the 2nd Test, Rizwan digs Pakistan out a hole once again. He hits his maiden Test hundred and helps the hosts to a series win.

In the T20Is, he opens the batting. #PAKvSA

In the first T20I, he hits a hundred – becoming only the 2nd WK (after Brendon McCullum) with a hundred in all 3 formats.

He finishes the series with a record 197 runs.

Ahead of #PSL6, Mohammad Rizwan completes a 180-degree turnaround.

After being benched for most of #PSL5 and barely being in contention, he is appointed as captain for Multan Sultans.
