I’m sorry for what I’m about to write bc i know it will probably upset lots of ppl. But I find it hard to remain +ve about being a member of SNP w/ all the vitriol out there against protected categories. In last few months it’s been brought to my attention I’m not SNP enough
/
/ I’m not THE SNP in the SNP. After furore re: #LamontAmendment, I also know I’m wrong type of survivor of rape. How dare I have the views I do on forensic examination! I’m not the archetypical survivor they are trying to protect... 🤔
/ I believe in equal rights for all but bc I stand up for Women’s Rights, I’m cannot be a true feminist. I’m also told this means I’m not a Trans Ally, even tho I’ve been an LGBTQ+ Ally my whole life after personally witnessing discrimination aimed against family & friends.
/ now it seems I’m wrong sort of disabled person. My own views, based primarily on my own lived experience as a disabled woman these last 23 years seemingly account for naught, bc they do not align w/ the leading activists in SNP Disabled Members Group & those in NEC
/ So in space of couple of months, I truly feel I’ve been marginalised as a person non grata w/in SNP. My sex is in Q, my history of sexual abuse has been maligned, I’m phobic bc my views are not progressive enough & now my life as a disabled woman is deemed insignificant.
/ So I have to ask, what is SNP doing for me? Just who are they trying to represent? There was an uproar over a fellow politician mouthing swear words at a colleague on Zoom, but where was condemnation when another colleague received online abuse, threats of sexual violence?
