A thread on what is the best fast food value combo I know of (provided you're sharing the meal with at least 1+ person): the KFC "Cheap As Chips" combo.
The Cheap As Chips combo contains eight original recipe pieces, six nuggets, as well as four large chips. You can swap the original recipe pieces for the spicy ones, and you can switch the chips for other large sides, like potato and gravy, coleslaw or a large drink.
If you have a party of two, you can split it so that each person gets four chicken pieces (original or spicy), three nuggets, one large chips, half of a large drink, and still have one large side left for either coleslaw or gravy, or just more drinks. Each person puts in $10.5.
If you have a party of three, you can do a 3/3/2 split on the chicken pieces, with the last person getting the nuggets to make up for their smaller share of chicken. Everyone gets one large fries, and there's one large drink to share between everyone. Each person puts in $7.
This combo is never shown on any of the menus at KFC stores. You'd either need to order it through their app or ask for the combo by name at their counter. Sometimes the employees will insist for you to use the app. Just tell them that you've ordered it at the counter before.
The reason I prefer ordering at the counter is because it's easier to get a receipt for doing so (with more details). If you go to KFC's feedback website ( http://kfcfeedback.com.au ) within 3 days, and put in the details on your receipt, you can do a survey about your order.
Completing the survey takes no longer than 5 minutes, and at the end you'll be given a code to be redeemed next time you order at KFC. Write the code onto your receipt, and turn it in at your next KFC visit. If your order is below $20 AUD, you'll get a free small fries and drink.
If your order is above $20 AUD, you'll get a free large fries and drink instead. And the Cheap As Chips combo is just over $20, meaning that if you do this survey every time you get this combo, you'll get free large chips and drinks added to your next order every time.
Doing this turns a combo that's already super worth it in terms of value into a combo that's insane in terms of how much stuff you get for your money. You're getting eight chicken pieces, six nuggets, four large sides, on top of a large drink and fries, for only $21 AUD.
Anyways, I found out about this combo after experiencing their awful Streetwise Feast combo. I've been spreading the knowledge through word of mouth between my mates and at hangouts with friends, and I figured my RoA/Smash following would like it too, so here it is.
I typed this up because I was bored this afternoon. If there are any good value deals at other restaurant chains, let me know and I'll check it out whenever I'm out of the house again.
