Cultural globalisation is a myth. Despite how easily ideas can be transmitted in our modern world, cultures barely have anything to take from each other. But there's a specific culture that permeates through that cloud, because of their hegemony of media — and it is America.
And it is not only cultural, but sociopolitical. Not only does it influence other countries, it dissolves other cultures, sway the citizens from the political attachment of their own country with its impositional ubiquity which is very hypnotic.
There was a time when I personally could not not talk about American politics. I was so deeply entrenched in their politics that I could insult, lay threats on others, because of tHE lEfT or tHe RiGhT.

I have come to realise American media hegemony is like a drug.
When I see other Nigerians so engaged in American politics, even conjoining it with their religion, doing religious rallies because of who is and is not president of the United States, I cringe, but I understand. It's almost as if they have no choice.
Large percent of the behemoth of world media is owned by Americans. It is a long intricate chain, webbed out but connected to just one country. The drive for profit keeps it going unrelentingly strong. The Internet, Hollywood, Cable News, Pop-Culture etc.
Most of the rest of the world literally have NO choice but to engage and fuel up their psyche with the information they just can't escape. But Americans are so out-of-touch that they don't know any of this.
They also really don't give a shit about what happens outside their bubble unless there is a natural disaster or political calamity in another country, so they can act like self-righteous saviours of the world.
