I'm curious about fellow writers' assessments of fic performance on Ao3, so thread of some questions. disclaimer that this is not intended to assign a value to anyone's writing, not even my own. just curious what fellow writers use as a metric, if at all, to judge their fics 
do you pay attention to the hits/kudos ratio of your fics? comments welcome
do you consider fic comments to be a more reliable indicator of reader enjoyment than kudos?
have you ever had serious doubts about your writing skill when a fic didn't perform as well as you'd expected?
does the idea of getting less response discourage you from writing for smaller/newer fandoms?
do you have a fixed threshold of say, kudos or comments, to assess the success of a fic? how do you assign it?
when seeking out fics to read in a new fandom, do you give weightage to the hits/kudos/comments they receive?
when writing fic for a new fandom, do you use stats on existing fics as a reference to judge what a good response would be?
have you ever used your more "successful" writing in a bigger fandom to cushion the less enthusiastic response in a smaller fandom? eg. I intersperse my smaller audience fics with, say, ranwan content 
do you deliberately time your fic posting/promo to get maximum reach?
do you feel a pressure to have each fic response be "bigger and better" than your previous fic(s) in the same fandom?
do you feel that, overall, the response to your fic(s) is not in proportion to the effort you put in?
do you think promo tweet engagement makes a significant difference to the numbers on your fics?
