I am reaching out to requesting for help to create awareness amongst students who aspire to study abroad especially USA. Any new student or H1b coming to use today will not be able to get a greencard in their life due to existing laws.

As the number of greencards issued per year are very less when compared to H1bs issued every year, there is a severe backlog & people approved for greencard in 2009 have not yet got it.

Anyone born in Indian and planning to apply for a greencard will have to wait for 436 years in the most commonly used (EB2) queue by Indians (Pg 13 - in the link shared). Basically the current system prohibits any Indians to get a greencard.

We need to create awareness amongst all students who are aspiring to study in USA to be fully aware what they are signing up for. USA provides opportunities and resources for Indian Students, but they are not treated equally like every other countrymen.

Though immigration issues are trying to be fixed, we dont know how much and how soon will the issue be fixed for every Indian applying today to be treated on par other countrymen. This highly disadvantages Indians by curtailing their growth and pay
increase.

Over past years, a few India Students became aware of these and lowered priority for American universities for higher studies causing the numbers to steadily decline.

Reduction in those numbers causes the universities to lose their revenue stream.

As stated earlier, if there is a clear decision to leave US after a few years the stay will be more enjoyable and less stressful, but the fact Indians are not treated equally stays in skill based immigration system
