To ensure climate & environmental data is placed at the heart of global finance, a new national research centre has been announced today thanks to £10m @ukri_news @govuk seed funding. #UKCGFI will enable lenders, investors & insurers make environmentally sustainable decisions
Mainstreaming ‘spatial finance’ ( @FinanceSpatial) – the integration of new geospatial data and analysis into financial theory and practice – will be a key priority for the new £10m #UKCGFI. Space is now the finance frontier. @turinginst @SatAppsCatapult
Physical #UKCGFI hubs @ImperialCollege & @UniversityLeeds will support companies to commercialise environmental, social & governance (ESG) data, such as tools that measure properties’ storm & flood risk, & enable the UK to become a world-leader in commercialising ESG products
The #UKCGFI will also work closely with finance professions, such as @charteredbanker @cfauk @cisi @actuarynews, to ensure every professional financial decision takes #climatechange into account
