There is a belief that in Srirangam temple God goes around the temple wearing these chappals every night!
These are the Chappals used & worn-out hence discarded by Him.
They are made by a particular family for over 100s of years now!

Whenever He needs a replacement He appears in the dream of the head of that family and tells him. They then make a new pair. The new pair is brought in a big precession to the temple and offered to God.

The wonder is - as time goes by these Chappals get worn-out!

This is being done even to day!
