Ah yes, Welsh, a repressed minority language has marginal value, unlike *checks notes* the opinions of a former Telegraph editor... Welsh is a beautiful language, it IS useful and it has as much a right to be spoken, learned and loved as any other. Mon the Welsh leid.

The value of a language is not solely economic. When a child asks for a cuddle, when one person expresses their love for another, that's the value. When humans can connect with each other through a shared language, no matter how brief the connection, the value is limitless.
The fact that within living memory Welsh, Scots, Gaelic and Irish were beaten out of weans at school and yet people are STILL trying to crush a growing renaissance of people, young and old, reclaiming their language and their heritage makes me sick. Haud gaun, bonnie fechters. X
