I’ve been writing about QAnon, Christian nationalism, anti-science extremists, COVID denial all year. Meanwhile, about ten families in my church were holding no mask gatherings with false prophecies for months.
Because several of the elders are related by blood and marriage—almost the entire oversight team got involved in the theologically-unsound gatherings. Even the prophecies about Trump failing to come true did not deter these folks!
Bizarre undercurrent: most of the white leaders have been taken captive by anti-woke, anti-CRT paranoia. (We are a VERY multicultural church.)

I’m going to humbly ask if you believe in God, to pray for us. My pastors have two small children and a secretive group of very confused elders put them on UNPAID LEAVE in the middle of a snowstorm and a pandemic.
On Monday I was called to help move boxes. I arrived to find utter confusion, staff weeping, my pastors left in uncertainty, false accusations, no due process, falsehood, politics, conspiracy, chaos and disorder.
I’ve gone to court with children in abusive situations. I’ve picked up people from jail. My neighbor is a homeless meth addict who I meet with to support. But religion gone wicked is a particular kind of smug, certain, convinced evil difficult to dislodge.
It’s been a horrible week. Thank you to the God of the Universe who sent me the Cat Lawyer Video to keep me alive these last seven days.
