Hello. I like beer. Since the pandemic began I've been making an effort to only drink beer produced locally, and have been really enjoying it. Some recent favorites include: /
Phantom Drifter from @GristHouse. A small (around 5% beer) with a great sweet flavor. Not everyone loves sweet stouts but when I'm in the mood, they're great. /
"Something T'Art", a Peaches & Cream sour ale from @ybbrewing. The first sip is "Oh, what is happening," but then the second sip darn if it doesn't all come together. Props for getting peaches as a main flavor not just an accent. /
I've had a few beers from the new @OldThunderBrew; "False Kingdom," a flagship IPA is very good but my favorite to date is Midnight Blue, their porter. Looking forward to trying their English pub ale. /
. @DG_Beer does IPAs really well but I've enjoyed their Pilsner and maltier offerings lately. Their stouts are great too. /
Meanwhile @RoundaboutBrew has been killing it over the past year. Their Imperial barrel aged porter was as good a beer as any I've had anywhere; their dopplebock on right now is exceptional as well. /
I really liked @TraceBrewing's saison, one of their first releases. Hoping to see this one come back soon! /
And of course @EastEndBrewing. I am biased because I worked there and am friends but their lager/pilsner game is exceptional right now. Plus they are doing things no one else in Pittsburgh is, like red-wine-barrel-aged cider or rye-barrel-aged barleywine. Really impressive stuff.
Do I need to get out to more local breweries? Yes! Sorry if I didn’t mention you or forgot!
