Fascinating seeing interhospital practice variation in the new gig! Esp with the ‘everyday’ things.

I was in the “not usually...” group as midlines can’t be used for vasopressors or some other low pH medications (vancomycin👀) due to risk of unrecognized infiltration.

Right?

Well, perhaps the data is not super strong there....
While midlines are only placed by PICC/IV teams at some institutions, seeing now that they can be placed efficiently and safely by CCM clinicians as well.
Finally, given the importance of de-resuscitation, could a midline be swapped for a central line in patients improving in the ICU?

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
