Do you have Bitcoin curious friends/family, but they like to do their own research?

Yeah, me too, and it seems most reach for the nearest Google search and find themselves in a sea of FUD.

Here's a thread for the adventurous noobs in your life:

1/
Friends,

I hear you're interested in Bitcoin - that's great!

BUT

If you're trying to do your own research, then I would suggest reading/listening to some of the below sources instead of relying on general searches or media publications.

2/
The amount of bad information about Bitcoin in general, and mining in particular, is honestly overwhelming to most people.

I don't expect you to read or listen to all of this (though you should!), but I do recommend you read/listen to at least one from each section below.

3/
I've put together the following articles/podcasts as they represent some of clearest thinking on Bitcoin from some of the smartest people in the space.

4/
Most of these articles have been read and commented on by @TheCryptoconomy on @BitcoinAudible. I'd highly recommend subscribing to his podcast and listening to some of the below articles.

Once you've gone down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, let me know if you want to talk more.

5/
Shelling Out is a general introduction to what money is which was written by cryptographer @NickSzabo4 six years before Bitcoin was created. This lays the foundation for understanding the history of money and Bitcoin's place in this history.

Section 2 - Gradually Then Suddenly

@parkeralewis is one of the brightest minds in the space, and his Gradually Then Suddenly essay series is a treasure trove of great thought. The entire series is amazing, but the six essays below are some of my favorites.

Bitcoin is the Great Definancialization

Have you heard that we're in the midst of a Great Reset and that your corporate, government, and NGO overlords are going to Build Back Better?

Yeah, that's a crock of shit.

Bitcoin fixes this.

Section 3 - Bitcoin FUD Busting

The media, certain institutions (:cough: central banks), and others with vested interests in the status quo release tsunamis of FUD about Bitcoin. There are many many excellent rebuttals to Bitcoin FUD, but these pieces are some of the best:

7 Misconceptions About Bitcoin by @LynAldenContact is a fantastic piece. Lyn is an independent investor with a background in engineering, and she has one of the sharpest minds on the planet when it comes to global macro trends in finance.

Proof of Work is Efficient by @danheld.

Dan has been in Bitcoin since 2013, and he's literally seen and heard every bit of misinformation thrown at Bitcoin.

Here he takes a crack at the energy FUD.

Every Reason Bitcoin Will Not Fail by @safehodl

This is not an article, but is basically an FAQ about nearly every bit of FUD that you may have questions about.
