Daydream is a song (seen as a title track) from the highly anticipated mixtape, Hope World. Hope World was released on the 1st of March 2018 on soundcloud.
The mv was released on the same day. In this thread I will briefly talk about the mv and lyrics.
Let's start with the first verse
I would like to start with the first three lines of the song.

'My character is half and half, who knows?'. From this lyric I feel like he is referring to the side of him as J hope we don't see,the vulnerable side, the side that isn't the bubbly personality he often shows.
Then it is followed up by

'A life I strive through as a public figure, who knows?'. I think this still links to my previous point about the hidden side that we don't see of him as well as his struggles of being famous.
'Restraining my large appetite, who knows?'
I think this describes his want for more or hunger whether it'd be awards, fame, respect or just freedom as a person he wants it however there is and has to be a restriction on the things he wants as an artist.
With this I want to say he's almost talking to himself about the things in life he wants but can't. It feels like he's reminding himself that such things aren't possible yet. For example starting a family or having the freedom to let out his emotions in fear of being watched.
This is now addressing the whole concept or temptation and desire. His drive and desire to do well and achieve big things as an artist has lead him into a 'net'.
A net often is used to capture animals and the reason why Hoseok has used this as part of a lyric describing desire is because he is describing the restrictive nature that it has created too. For example not being allowed out much in case of being mobbed or ssaesang behaviour
Yet despite this a Universal psychological escape which is true constantly in society the whole concept of working hard to your goal is encouraged in order to ensure happiness in life
In this next bit he describes his feelings as not unsatisfied with the position that in but as in wanting to create a world where he can escape like a dream which is emphasised with the last bit of the first verse.
Okay the prechorus. In the prechorus he references fantasy worlds out of stories such as Alice in Wonderland where she discovers wacky and strange characters or the magic world of Harry Potter and Hogwards. This is him wanting to create a world or enter one that is what he craves
But he knows that it won't last for long and he will have to face reality soon evoking feelings of disappointment
He wants to stay in this imaginary world forever to dream night and day about it and constantly wishes to stay
talking to himself about how he should life like without worrying about what others say and live life to its fullest.

As well as talking about the things he is good and wants to be good at
Chorus again
bridge

In this I feel like he is trying to justify the reason why is constantly dream despite having everything he wants in life in terms of fame and how he sees it as a way to relax and explore through the busy schedule he has but at the end it's time to wake up then it ends
Like it does everytime
In conclusion, Daydream is a track that despite its funky and jolly beat tackles the conflict Hoseok goes through as an artist.
Daydream is a masterpiece that should be talked about way more
