I was in a very unhealthy one-sided relationship for years. Young, in over my head, and just couldn’t give up on the idea of him. The guy he was vs whom he had become. I spent 4 years with a guy who “didn’t do Valentine’s Day” and lemme tell ya. That’s not easily undone.

It has taken a long time for me to unpack all that I suppressed during those years. But what an absolute asshole for causing me to hate a day that is designed around love.

It’s not a sad day. Or a lonely day. It’s a day to tell everyone you love, just that. So don’t allow anyone else to make-or-break this day for you. Take it upon yourself to make someone else’s day by telling them how much you appreciate them. Happy Valentine’s Day
