22 years ago I walked into @LiveWirebar not knowing my life would forever change when I met @thepegisin We played their version of The Dating Game. I was the bachelor and she was bachelorette number 1. I picked her and the rest is history.
Last year we spent the day in the airport. We were flying to SF for the long weekend & thought it’d be best to get the travel out of the way so we could wake up there. That weekend we went to SF Beer Week events & @CursedChildSF It’d be the last plane ride & live event we went to
Our “romantic dinner” was a banh mi in the San Francisco airport. But it was more important that we were traveling together than what we ate. Peggy got bit by the travel bug pretty early on. Her favorite place was some place she has never been to. I got on planes to see family.
Our first travel was to SF in the spring of 1999. I tagged along on a work trip. I did the same later in the fall to Chicago. There was always a tricky balance between our time together & spending time at the work functions/conferences. The next year we went to Paris for 10 days.
Paris was where she most wanted to go so she bought travel books & language tapes. I read David Sedaris books. We had a good time but ultimately felt like slaves to Rick Steves (or as I like to call him Stick Reeves). We flew back through New York & spent a jet lagged day there.
Peggy lived in New York for 10 years. She moved out there to go to college and had moved back to San Diego about a year before we met. Peggy was very much back in a New York groove. We went to Tower (RIP), her favorite pizza place, her favorite bar and she got play tour guide.
March 2020 she was going to travel to Machu Picchu until ... well you know. We had talked about other travel in the year but at the time I was working a job where I didn’t have PTO and Peggy didn’t always have the flexibility to take more than long weekend trips.
I think that’s what she misses the most the freedom to travel, to go to a new place, to do all the things, to take the wrong metro or get caught in the rain at Versailles. We are going to travel again together. I’m still waiting for my
boarding group but she’s in first class.

The past year we’ve fantasized about where we want to travel next
Asia to visit all the Disney parks & Korea since she’s fallen in love with the culture
Austin to see films, art & yoga
Oregon because that’s where I want to retire to
Denver to see new additions to the family

Or hashtag all the ballparks (20 or so to go and new ones on the horizon)
But ultimately I don’t care where it is as long as it’s with her sitting next to me on the plane.
