I have never done much with Retr0brighting on my channel because it has always felt "too good to be true" and I didn't trust it. But I have fully Retr0brighted one thing and I just noticed something about it that firmly puts me into the camp of:

I will never Retr0bright again.
I will eventually make a video about this but I think that what I found is potentially too important to hold until I'm ready

To start this is what I retr0brighted, a Sega Dreamcast. ~6 years ago. This is before

(The pictures arent great because I didn't plan on publishing them)
This was 2015, so I did the classic method of the cream with saran wrap in the sun.
The results were mixed, it didn't get fully white everywhere and it streaked. I didn't do the modem as a control reference but it was about the same as the console.
That was basically everything I got out of the test initially. I then left it in a dark place for 6yrs and found it again it while rummaging around.

This may be new to some of you but it didn't surprise me to find that it had re-yellowed.
However, I found something else more concerning.

I had originally taped off the label on the bottom so the glue wouldn't be damaged while retr0brighting
Looking at it now, the areas NOT exposed to retr0brighting are WHITER!

The yellowing not only still happened. But it was ACCELERATED and is now worse than untreated areas.
This is just one test, but this is a very hard test to do since it took years to re-yellow.

But the potential of making the yellowing worse on top of my existing skepticism means that I will never perform or endorse Retr0brighting.
