So I promised a thread on Rev. Frederick K.C. Price and "EVIDENCE" -which those of you know is part of the opening of the opening of the TV show he had for many years. For a good overview of his ministry see this @RNS piece https://religionnews.com/2021/02/13/frederick-c-k-price-prosperity-gospel-televangelist-faithdome-crenshaw-christian-covid-19-ever-increasing/
I had the opportunity when I lived in LA to visit Crenshaw Christian Center several times, especially when I was attending Fuller Seminary before going off to do my PhD at Vanderbilt.. I say that because it's pertinent in a way to this story. I was not a proponent of prosperity
But have also been interested in Fred Price in part because of what he built in South Los Angeles (formerly known as South Central LA) and his turn away from racism, specifically with regard to Kenneth Hagin Jr. and Kenneth Hagin Sr. and their ministries. To understand this..
Let me relate an anecdote. Before Prince build the Faith Dome, the large 10k seat arena he built. Church used to be held in a building on the property he bought that used to be the campus of Pepperdine University (now out in Malibu) I was at a service there and at that service..
Price raised in ONE SERVICE 75,000 for the 75th anniversary of Kenneth Hagin Sr. and His Wife. 75 k folks. One service.
That's a lot of money in the 1990's

After this, Kenneth Hagin Jr. Preached a sermon at his church against interracial Marriage. This would break the very close ties that Price had with the Hagins and also with Rhema Bible college. Price wanted Hagin to apologize and retract, but he did not. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1998-mar-28-me-33511-story.html
Fred Price would then begin a long teaching series on race, racism and religion that would go on for several years, and was a VERY big deal in Charismatic circles. He also denounced the Dake Bible during this series on Racism, saying that the bible's construction was racist.
This series Rev. Fred Price did was groundbreaking in light of church racial reconciliations of the 1990's. It was an in your face, years long series on racism, and the deconstruction of the Dake bible, which had 30 references saying that God wanted races to live separately.
