Nobody has an inherent right to a platform. And if an academic expresses outrageous views, why shouldn’t they be dealt with proportionately? I work on sexual violence: if I started saying kids deserved to be raped, then I damn well should be fired. 3/
Make no mistake, this is the Government trying to control universities & free speech. Are they that scared of independent critique? Is defunding “political” research designed at least in part to deter scrutiny of their handling of covid, their cronyism, their outright lies? 4/
Solidarity with @corinne_fowler who is once again being singled out for attack because of her important research into the colonial history of @nationaltrust properties. The Government isn’t trying to stop the rewriting of history, it’s trying to deny and control history. 5/
