One fifth of the current Labour membership joined since December 2019 so assume 100k. We are down net 70k from 580k. So that means some 70k Momentum have left. Membership churn going against far left. CLP AGMs simply reflecting the membership shift.
I’d be interested to see polling on what the Starmer selectorate is doing; but given no one has any up to date stats I suspect it’s pretty much solid internally. Far left talking up leadership challenge is purely for internal purposes to stop the leaking away.
Incidentally that doesn’t mean we don’t need to re-energise with policy and possible reshuffle coming according to news. The post-COVID landscape is about to start; we need our best front and centre.
So in short ignore the social media / twitter noises from the red golf flag / fist pump alt-left whose tide is ebbing out.
Given most labour voters are happy with direction we need a laser-like focus on the post-COVID landscape and focus on Tory-Labour marginals.

The post-COVID landscape means we look at all our talent and consider some heavier hitters. We need to be heard.
