Mario and Peach's relationship thread:
Within the video game fanbase, there is sometimes a debate about the relationship between Mario and Peach.
When people talk about Mario's feelings for Peach, many feel that he is wasting his time because she doesn't feel the same.

Others say by Mario being a silent protagonist, and not emoting or talking too much, it's hard to know Mario's true feelings for Peach.

As we continue, I would like to show how Peach herself cares about Mario in the series.

Her interactions, and the way she treats him, is different from the way she treats and interacts with the other characters.
Though Mario is a silent protagonist, he still has emotions and feelings. He may not express it in-game, but a way to see Mario's character is by looking at his actions - seeing what he has to do in the game.
His feelings for Peach are also shown that way. When we are playing Mario, all we are doing is guiding him to his goal, which is the same thing we have to do for a scripted game protagonist who can emote and talk.
The things we must guide Mario through to save her is because he loves her. Even the cutscenes in the games pick up how he truly cares about her.
We can start with Mario!
When we first see Mario with Peach, it was Super Mario Bros. In the game, he must traverse through many things to try and save her - risking his own life in several dangerous situations.

The next game we see where Mario's feelings for Peach is Super Mario 64. Starting with the manual, Mario receives a letter from Peach. Because he cares so much about her, he dressed quickly in his best before he left to see her.
At the ending of the game, when Peach kisses him, Mario's reaction sends him into a state of bliss. He reacts dazed when she kisses him on the nose.
In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario is willing to take the challenge and cross the Galaxy to save Peach. On his adventure, he will help others in need, however, she was the reason why he went into the Galaxy where he was able to help others.
Mario had to advance over black holes, and risk his life through the gravity of space to save her. It's different from the other times because he was mostly on land.

At the start of the game, when Bowser comes to the Star Festival, Mario tries to make it to Peach. When Mario gets to the bridge, he is tired and out of breath, however, he still tries to get to her. Despite how tired Mario is, he will continue to push himself for her.
In the ending of the game, when Mario and Peach are coming to the bridge connected to the castle, Mario felt a huge shake. Right away, he put his arm in front of her to protect her from what is happening, representing again how he is willing to put his life in danger.
Even while being vacuumed away, he tries to still reach for her to protect her.

When Mario defeats Bowser for the final time and lands in front of the castle where the other characters are, Peach then will come from the castle and talk to Yoshi first.
She will thank them all for their help, however, she then will kiss Mario on his nose.

By Peach kissing Mario, it shows that she has more feelings for Mario that she doesn't feel for the other characters.
If she didn't have any feelings for Mario or only viewed him as a friend - she didn't have to kiss him, like she didn't with the others.

You wouldn't just focus on kissing one person if you didn't have a reason for it, or if you didn't feel something for them.
In Luigi's Mansion, there is a crying Toad that tells Luigi Peach sent him to look for Luigi. While talking to Luigi, he says - "If he doesn't get back, you have no idea how upset the princess will be! She'll flip!"
We can see how Peach will be upset if something happened to Mario, it will hurt her a lot.
At the start of Super Mario Galaxy, Peach will send a letter to Mario, telling him that she will be waiting for him at the castle on the night of the star festival. She ends the letter telling Mario that there is something she wants to give him.
Peach is only waiting for Mario to come to the castle and wanted to give him something. Peach has other friends she could have invited or included as well. However, she does not.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 shows how she only wants to be with Mario again. In the game, Peach sends a letter to Mario asking him would he like to share some cake while they watch the shooting stars? She tells Mario to meet her at the castle.
Just as in Super Mario Galaxy, she would like to spend time with him personally. She doesn't include or mention anyone else, only him.

In the ending of Super Mario 3D Land, after Mario defeats Bowser and rescues Peach, he will fly with her to the castle. When he does so, a heart will appear. Afterward, there is a picture of Mario and Peach sitting close together with Mario looking at the Tanooki Leaf.
If you play as Luigi and he carries Peach to the castle, no heart will appear and while they will sit with each other, it's not as close as she was with Mario.

However, for 3D Land, Nintendo took the time out to only have the heart for Mario and Peach.
Many argue saying that Peach doesn't love Mario because of the ending of Super Mario Odyssey. The reason why is because Peach did not marry Mario and was going on the ship, and it was taking off without him.
However, that is not true. Just because she did not want to marry him (at that moment), doesn't mean her feelings stopped for him.

In conclusion, Mario and Peach love each other. Despite it not being noted that they are in a "relationship," both characters show that they deeply love each other.
