That said, McConnell gamed this from the start by insisting the trial couldn’t happen until Trump was out of office.

To vote whichever way the wind was blowing. One way and Trump was guilty. The other, acquittal by way of claiming he’s guilty but it’s all unconstitutional due to him being out of office.

A quick reality check:
Yes Trump was acquitted, as was never really in doubt, but he came the closest of ANYONE in history to hitting that 2/3 majority. And that’s even with the system gamed in his favor.

1) Trump is still not president, nor will he be president on March 4th or whatever date the whackadoos are currently touting.
2) he still owes hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.
3) there are still multiple investigations pending against him...

This was an acquittal, nothing more, for what was - at this point - mostly a political dog and pony show.
