My excluded son is so much more than a kid no school can be bothered to teach ...... a thread aimed at those who’ve already written him off in life
1) He’s a keen runner and involved with parkrun movement running over 200 times and volunteering over 70
2) he’s the quickest person I know at mental maths - whether we’re cooking, decorating or on holiday working our exchange rates this is a vital skill
3) he’s actually considered a keyworker - throughout the pandemic - serving rural villages with fresh fruit and veg. 15 months part time employment and his coworkers and customers love him
4) he doesn’t lie in bed all day - he’s up and dressed by 9am (5:30am on workdays).
5) he’s a pretty handy mechanic and has helped out rebuilding a mini and triumph motorbike in last 3 years
6) he’s a decent basic cook and everyday does himself a fry up. He’s clued up on nutrition and avoids the processed crap other kids his age eat
7) he’s research history of rap music in depth throughout years and different parts of the world
8) he already had two GCSEs Grades 8 and 7..... it’s going to be tough to get any this year (home educated students shafted again by @ofqual) but he’ll hopefully sit a few more in the Autumn 🍂
9) Chat on his level and you’ll realise he’s a decent kid, denied the right to education but a f@cked system that should have helped . Thx for reading - please think before you prejudge an excluded child in future
