I took a bit from each job/experience I had:
-Soccer ref: how to remain calm in the face of adversity (parents can get real angry!!!)
- @McDonaldsCanada : following SOP’s to get a job done efficiently/teamwork (Saturday morning breakfast to lunch changeover is no easy task!) https://twitter.com/jodieschnurr/status/1360602807963955201

-Food industry logistics: organization/planning/time management (trucks need to roll out on time with the proper orders loaded and proper routes, or industry stops and you can lose major clients)
- @CanadianForces: how training, teamwork, critical thinking, listening to and carefully executing orders/SOP’s & adherence to the chain of command leads to the successful completion of the mission. Learned so many time management and leadership qualities that are so important
-PF: this was a great program to learn about the law and the job; before getting into it. It better prepared me for the Ontario Police College; so when I got there it was not the first time I was hearing all the theory! Also great skills learned from experienced ex-coppers
Security: The biggest thing I learned here was de-escalation (before that was a common word!). We were usually unarmed and solo; we had to talk our way through resolving situations to keep our clients, their property, our patrons, and ourselves safe.
For anyone looking to get into Policing I would recommend having a lot of varying experiences where you can pull different skill sets from that can then be used in a Public Safety setting. Our training bureau and OPC will then fill in the rest!
