Seeing people tweet predicting Trump’s 2024 loss if he runs again.

I’m from RI. My childhood mayor was Buddy Cianci, an American politician AND CONVICTED FELON who served as the mayor from 1975-84. He resigned cause he was convicted of assault. In 1991, he ran again and WON.

After he was forced to resign the first time, he tried running in the special election held to replace him, claiming that his suspended sentence made him less of a convicted felon, enough so that he should be eligible to replace himself. I can’t make this up.

Then, in 1991, he runs again and fucking WINS. Not just wind, but stays in power until 2002. Why was 2002 the end of his reign? Because in 2001, he was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy, extortion, witness tampering, and mail fraud and sentenced to federal jail.

Now here’s the kicker - in 2012, he became eligible to run again for Mayor. So he decided he was gonna do it. In 2014, he declared his candidacy for Mayor, running as an independent. HE CAME IN SECOND. The Republican candidate voted democrat to keep Buddy from office.

Dan Harrop, the Republican, announced he was voting for his competition to keep RI from being a laughing stock, which it would have if Buddy had been elected. Would Buddy had another shot? Probably, but he died in 2016, two years after his loss. That is literally the only thing that stopped that man from trying again - death. More importantly, it was the only way to keep dumbasses from trying to re-elect him

So if you are sitting at home, thinking a Trump run in 2024 is doomed from the start - don’t. Don’t ever underestimate how stupid and determined people can be, ever. Don’t underestimate your way into another Trump reign.
