Ah, Republicans. They never fail to disappoint.

43 Republican Senators have declared violent uprisings against election results are ... fine. So long as it's for their party.

The worst part is, I'm not even surprised.

Congress used to care about their own legislative prerogatives. After all, they're a coequal branch of government.

But Republicans decided decades ago that subverting judicial independence & asserting executive authority (for them) was more important.

And now we're here. Where one political party seeks to govern, the other seeks power.

One holds power accountable, the other has become a cult of personality.

One deals in reality, the other deals in conspiracy theories.

One believes in democracy.
The other ... doesn't.

And so, we must remember this day.

We must remember it in 2022, when today's Senators run for reelection.

We must remember it in 2024, when today's Senators run for reelection or the White House.

We must remember it in 2026, when today's Senators run for reelection.

We must remember it in all the years to come and ask:

"How did you vote that day?
Did you stand with democracy,or with the mob?
Did you stand with our votes, or with the coup?
Did you stand with We The People, or The Would Be King?

Trump is out of office not because the Senate removed him when they had the opportunity, but because WE removed him.

Voters. WE did that.

We did it by showing up. At offices and town halls. At protests and demonstrations. At rallies and voting booths.

How do we keep our power?
We have to keep showing up.

Sorry, there's no "one and done" answer here. There never was. So keep your head in the game. Keep doing the work.

Paying attention is a political act.
