When was the last time you had some news that you just couldn’t wait to share? For me it was when I received the call from the placement board with my appointment as pastor. I wanted to tell all my family and friends immediately!
But, they told me I had to wait to make any public announcements because they weren’t finished with the process. It was almost agonizing to not share my excitement with others!
In the Gospel this weekend we hear about the leper who, having been cleansed, cannot be prevented from sharing the joy of his encounter with Jesus. How often do we, for example, leave Mass with that same kind of joyful urgency? Haven’t we too been cleansed?
“Go, and announce the Gospel of the Lord!” You may hear this version of the dismissal at Mass this weekend. Ask God to give you an opportunity to share the joy of the Gospel this week, and for the courage to do it!
