5x01 Thread

5x01 is a meta episode imo and I still think Meg is supposed to parallel Michael while Mr SOB (aka Lee) is supposed to parallel Lucifer. Even the names are awfully similar

And I still think that Meg killed Mr SOB and it will be revealed in 5x16

The first time we see Meg we see her low opinion of her brother and scoffing at his death. We know Michael similarly has a very low opinion of Lucifer, even insisting Lucifer is unworthy in 5x03

Next we see Meg being a bit sassy with Chloe unnecessarily. It was strange that they wrote rudeness like this into what is seemingly a sympathetic character

Then we see Meg talking about how Mr SOB was a magnet for bad people and things. Reminds me a lot of 4x09 when Lucifer says how everything he touches he ruins

So Chloe mentions how maybe he’s turned his life around and Meg insists that that’s impossible. He was just riding a high

The very next episode we see Michael insist the same thing about Lucifer

All of his siblings think Lucifer has changed but Michael insists Lucifer will regress as soon as someone starts messing with his life on earth and he comes down to earth to prove it. Lucifer returning to Hell was an outlier

Then we see Meg say she hasn’t seen her brother in years *cough* Michael *cough* and she can’t even say she knew the man anymore, but she was just insisting that she knew him well enough to know that he wouldn’t change just seconds before

Here you can see how Lucifer and Mr SOB really are birds of a feather. Both wear a suit. Both wear a ring. Both used money to fill a void in their lives. Both like living high

We then see the root of Mr SOB’s Hell loop. The door to escape. All he needs to do is walk through the door to be with his family

Like Mr SOB, all Lucifer needs to do to be allowed back into Heaven to see his family is forgive himself

The house = Heaven

Meg literally pulls a gun on Chloe and Maze has to flip her over. Definitely suspicious

The similarities between the house for Mr SOB and Heaven for Luci are obvious

*their parents’ house

*the house they grey up

*they’ve been gone a long time

Both Lucifer and Mr SOB lost their mom first. Mum went to hell and Mr SOB’s mom got sick

God obviously is still kicking but I have a feeling time is running out for Lucifer to find forgiveness from him. Mr SOB wasted his chance. Will Lucifer do the same?

We see Chloe show some suspicion and say Meg is doing a lot of work for a brother she supposedly doesn’t care about, and we know no one has better intuition than Chloe, so I think we should trust her instincts here. Meg is up to no good

Next Meg says she wants to grab some of Lee’s things. This is strange because we don’t expect a woman who hasn’t seen her brother in years to want to keep his stuff. This reminds me of Michael trying to steal Lucifer’s life because he wants everything Lucifer has

Then we see Lucifer insist that if Mr SOB goes through the door he will inevitably mess up again

And we know Lucifer hates himself because everything he touches he ruins so Lucifer night as well be describing himself

We see Lucifer come to the realization about the similarities between himself and SOB

Both are terrified of hurting those they love so they stay away for thousands of years, suffering because they can’t bear the thought of hurting those they love

Who’s hell is this? Not Mr. SOB’s Hell. Lucifer’s Hell.

Here’s where things get interesting

Mr SOB took Meg to see Saw, and as @Sanoiro pointed out to me Saw literally has a severed hand on the movie poster

Perhaps more reason Meg might want to cut off Mr SOB’s hand if she is in fact the killer

Another thing @Sanoiro pointed out to me was that there’s no pictures of Meg’s family. Not of her parents, or her daughter (Mr SOB’s niece)

If Meg had a good relationship with the family, where are their pictures?

Like Michael, the good relationship with the fam is a facade

We see Mr. SOB’s hand in Meg’s house, and I think the most likely explanation for this is that Meg put the hand there. The killers would have no reason to

Then rod shows up and insists that Meg has the money. Because she probably does. She has the hand after all

If we go deep into the Meg = Michael parallel we might be able to say that both Meg and Michael wanted what their brother had

Michael didn’t think Lucifer deserved love, and Meg didn’t think Mr SOB deserved the money, so they both ruined their sibling’s chance at a happy ending and stole it from them

Then we see Mr SOB tell Lucifer how he missed his chance at a happy ending. He’s dead. But Lucifer is still alive and still has a chance

And as @MrssMorningstar just pointed out, the title of 5x16 is A Chance at a Happy Ending

Lucifer is such an idiot. He literally does the same thing Mr SOB did

Chloe is in danger. Lucifer has a VERY GOOD reason to go back to earth in this moment, but he doesn’t because he believes by going back he’ll make things worse. He belongs in Hell

But the truth is, Chloe needs him. She might have died if it weren’t for Michael saving her at the last moment, and by not returning Lucifer gave Michael a chance to swoop in an hurt all of his friends, but it’s more than that

We see throughout the episode that Chloe is not doing well. She’s in pain. Sure she’s in good physical health but emotionally, she needs Lucifer, no matter how much Lucifer insists otherwise. Lucifer is no better than Mr SOB here
