On the journey towards Vaheguru, there are four things that help keep us focused on the end goal.

1. Bibek (Wisdom, Discrimination)
2. Bairaag (Attachment)
3. Khat Sampati (The Six Treasures)
4. Mokh Ichha (Desire for Liberation)
1. Bibek: To understand how Vaheguru is One. To understand how the illusion of Maya works and that the origin is Vaheguru. And that only Vaheguru is important and your time should be spent loving, remembering, worshipping Vaheguru...
Bibek can be used for everyday life. Where should you allocate your time? Do you need to finish that Netflix season or should you work out? Discriminate against the important and non-important things...
You sleep about 1/3 of your life. A lot of time is used up studying, your job, eating, looking at your phone, traveling... you really don't have that much time to practice your Sikhi... use your time wisely.
The mind is distracted by great anxiety; no one recognizes one's own true Self

This human body has been given to you

This is your chance to meet the Lord

2. Bairaag: To lose love and attachment for the world and to fall in Love with Vaheguru. This usually happens naturally as Bibek is practiced. You realize Vaheguru is the only one worth caring about as everything is temporary.
I stand humbly at your Door, O Lord

Who else can take of me other than You, Maharaj? Please open the Door, Please grant me the Blessed Sight of You.
3. Khat Sampati (Six treasures)

3.1. Sam - Learn how to control your thoughts. Learn how to divert your mind using the mental strength gained from Simran. Do not suppress! Redirect your thoughts to Vaheguru through logic, goals, Gurbani, and positive affirmations.
3.2. Dam: Control your five senses. Control what you see, hear, read, etc. This will help you control your mind's thoughts as well. Don't let yourself fall into information overload. Your mind will naturally wander, so try to stay focused on Maharaj.
They do not know how to guard their home (of the body)

The five thieves have plundered them

3.3. Sharda: Have faith. Faith in the Guru. Faith that this path will take you somewhere. Somewhere better than the situation you are in now.
3.4. Samadaan: To be able to focus deeply upon the name of Vaheguru and the teachings of the Gurus especially when the mind is occupied with worldly things.
3.5. Upraam: Indifference to good and bad. Indifference to your desires and wants especially those that take us away from Vaheguru. Indifference to the beauty of the world as they have found something infinitely worthier of their attention (Vaheguru)...
Imagine seeing an attractive person. Many would appreciate their looks and would desire to engage with the person. Someone with Upraam would not even care about looks. They look at all with an unbiased compassionate perspective.
3.6. Tateekhia: To be unaffected by the biological tendencies of the body. Pain, cold, hot, hunger, etc... all are the same. However, the body is cared for so that Bhagti of Vaheguru can be done.
4. Mokh Iccha: The desire to become One with Vaheguru. The desire to follow the path of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to reach the Formless. Without this desire, all the other Saadan seem out of context.
