Everyone needs to properly understand the story of #ravizacharias / @RZIMhq, okay? I’m sick to death of this “what tragic mistakes he made” or “there by the grace of God go I..” narrative.

#Ravi has a charlatan. Call him for what he actually was. He was a liar, hypocrite, thief, rapist (and more) who marketed himself as “Christian” and who sold himself everything we want to be as good Christians.

This is NOT the story of a man who was overcome with lust and succumbed to temptation in a moment of weakness.

This is a man who “[had] a form of godliness but [denied] its power“ (2 Tim. 3:5 NIV). Then he cultivated an illusion to deceive thousands.

This is a man who stole at least 40k of donor funds & used it to pay for schooling for his own private harem. This is a man who used his worldwide influence to attack, slander, and nearly destroy @LoriAnneThomps2 and her husband.

This is a man who led a multimillion dollar business as his own personal piggybank & used it to enrich himself and his family, on top of all the sexual depredations. His crimes include blackmail and rape. Ravi bears culpability for the abortion of his brother’s child.

I get being stunned because we bought the charade. I don’t get the willingness to justify and defend (or even try to repair the illusions) that we bought into.

Why are you shocked at this? Ravi rejected the clear teachings of the Bible he said he loved. He despised his wife with many adulterous affairs.

This isn’t a good man gone bad. This was a - very bad - man who intentionally preyed on people that believed he was doing God’s work. Rip him off of the pedestal, learn from this catastrophe, and move forward.

I hate to break it to you but the story is only going to get worse from here. There’s scads of evidence that Ravi broke Federal and possibly international laws, and that #RZIM enabled it at a very minimum.

@BrentDetwiler, @reachjulieroys, @DefendTheSheep, @ThouArtTheMan and others warned us REPEATEDLY and for YEARS about this. Many of you simply didn’t want to hear it. Some of you #SBC folks are STILL denying other criminal activities after 2 years of news reports!

You need to search your own heart about why you didn’t want to heed their warnings when they were ignored. Then you need to look a lot closer at your “heroes” to see if they’re the real deal or not. Ravi’s just the latest.
