this thread is full of valid points but also tons of ppl obviously bitter they didn't get a part in their school plays lol. i can tell bc i was also rejected. https://twitter.com/_reemmk_/status/1360268596715409410
yes stage crew is just as important as the actors and should be treated as such but y'all are twisting shit to sound like actors don't contribute anything of value?? without either group u don't have a show???
YES BECAUSE IT'S A FUCKING /PERFORMANCE/ U DWEEB. and the implication that actors don't work hard...
creating a different world is literally the whole point...stage crew does that too by constructing sets, lighting, tonally appropriate music cues etc... also, an actor that doesn't work with others...isn't a good actor. https://twitter.com/CaseyMacM/status/1360670094867582976?s=19
acting is literally about working together with your partners, gauging their emotions and bouncing off them in a believable way. actors who upstage others and make the whole thing about themselves are hated by everyone else lol.
there's something to be said about the ingroup clique-iness that often forms among the actors and excludes stage crew but fuck off w ur armchair psychology
i am really heated abt this for someone who only ever played the occasional nonspeaking role or helped paint sets now and then agsfaksbdj
