I’m seeing a lot of tweets regarding how what’s happening at #DNRTulane is happening in all hospitals and while I wholeheartedly agree, let’s not lose this momentum to keep @TulaneMedicine accountable and set an example. Money and reputation is their currency.

Now is the time to
- Financially support Dr. Dennar in her legal battle against them
- Contact ACGME to hold them accountable
- Petition for dismissal of Dr. Wiese and anyone else complicit in the abuse of the PD and residents
- Contact the media. Everyone outside of medtwitter

should be talking about this. Better yet, they should be talking about the pattern of women kicked out of academia for speaking out ( @ayshakhoury)
- contact the alumni association.
- contact donors. How many will withdraw $ support knowing their discriminatory recruitment?

- applicants from HBCUs who did not match should organize and look into the possibility of a class action lawsuit for discrimination from ATLAS
- med applicants should contact @TulaneMedicine to say they are reluctant or no longer applying given their track record of racism.

Racism thrives on apathy. It is almost overwhelming to think of how pervasive it is in medicine, and not knowing where to start. Institutions put out DEI statements this summer, now is the time to prove those who don’t walk the talk will be held accountable.
I am specifically calling on white people to do the leg work here. The reason you don’t feel personally victimized by this is the reason you have a moral obligation to act.
We need to stop expecting Black people to be the most outspoken against racism when they are sacrificing their careers over it. I am by no means a perfect ally but I am so sick of white people not speaking out because they don’t want to make other people uncomfortable.
End of rant, though I’ll add some links below.

That's it for now. I need to go study. Will update with more ways to help as I hear or think of other avenues.
Last thing. I'm sick of "raising awareness" on racism. If you're not aware, you're either willfully ignoring it, or actively perpetuating it. Sharing these stories and speaking out is not enough so until I learn of more concrete ways to fight racism, this is what I'm gonna do.
If you attended a HBCU and previously applied to Med-Peds at Tulane university but did not match, and would like to connect with others in the same situation, DM me and I will put you in contact with each other confidentially. Please share widely. #DNRTulane
Those who have not matched and think they were subject to ATLAS should look into getting a Notice of Right to Sue from the EEOC for discrimination. (Don't ask me any further details, I have no legal background lol, this info is courtesy of a kind colleague.)
Let members of Tulane's Board of Directors know how you feel about racism at their university with 2 clicks. https://tinyurl.com/3kd9q6dl Idea by @londyloo, email adapted from @alyalyoxenfree_ #DNRTulane
