Thread: In the USA we have this toxic environment where money and the pursuit thereof becomes a person’s highest ideal. Add to this the fact that people are no longer bound by any real history or shared suffering, and you produce a nation of backstabbers and cowards.
On top of this, the media is just a giant propaganda machine, and the prime instrument for social engineering. We’re constantly fed false narratives and information, which most people slop up like pigs.
The result is a very thorough brainwashing which can be exploited through polarization via party politic. Democracy gives people this illusion they have a choice because they can vote for either the “giant douche” on the left or the “turd sandwich” on the right.
I find that the average Citizen really thinks s/he understands what going on geopolitically or even domestically, but in actuality, they are just following the rest of the herd to fit in. The status quo which may have required more overt means to be reinforced,
is now easily maintained by ostracizing those who don’t go along with the false narratives promoted by extremist on both sides.
Domestically, our police force has been basically militarized. The good cops get looked over while trying to protect. Defense budget increases year-after-year, and has created this surveillance infrastructure comparable to what you see
in China with our Utah Data Collection Center, JTTF, Fusion Centers, etc. All this under the false pretense of “terrorism”, which often times is overused by our government. This has led to some of the most egregious privacy violations domestically.
You don’t build an Orwellian infrastructure like this because you’re trying to neutralize some short- or medium-term threat. There’s a final goal of basically turning the US into a covert authoritarian-style state, especially after the passing of the Patriot Act.
This is basically where all the money in America goes, i.e. to defense spending, gov’t, military, etc., and since (coming full circle) the highest ethos in america is that economic egoism, the people just follow the money.
To assuage our conscience, I find we like to adopt some ideology like Judeo-Christianity (if they’re on the conservative right) or Progressivism (if they’re on the liberal left). In the former case, mostly found in the middle America, they can claim that some “God” is on their
side, and so everything becomes religiously-sanctioned. A majority of Americans have become wholly incapable of assessing anything objectively or lucidly anymore —incapable of true, deep self-reflection. It’s easier to point the finger instead of looking into the mirror
and seeing what’s really going on in this country, behind the fake patriotism. America is lost and deep in shit. A country were there’s only justice is you are Rich and white. Where Presidents can attempt to overthrow an election with no repercussions. The land of BS and

We are no better than authoritarian regimes, not special or exceptional and have ceased to be any example to the world.
