There is a disturbing peasant morality which believes that to benefit from a system created and maintained by something is different to directly participating in the creation of that something.
This division is a bougie fairytale in which people who avoid positions of responsibility and decision-making then attack anything that tackles the hard questions of life: war, poverty, death, oppression.
Both the working class and aristocracy are less prone to this since the realities of ruling lie squarely on the latter and the consequences of their decisions rest mostly on the former. Then there is the comfortable bougie middle in which one can LARP their ethical ideals.
E.g. "weapons manufacturing is immoral" is nonsensical since all civilisations and their peace is maintained through immense amounts of violence.
You can either run away from this fact and claim that by removing yourself by proximity makes you morally cleaner.

Or you can drop the pretense and accept the basic, hard reality that weapons and killing are core to civilisation, and that everything around you leads back to the military-industrial complex (as it has been since antiquity).
